VENUE: CSIR ICC

The CSIR International Convention Centre (CSIR ICC) is situated in Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa, in the greater metropolitan area of Tshwane. Tshwane is renowned for its nature attractions, Big Five Game Reserve and concentration of research and academic institutions – a naturally spectacular city and home to a high concentration of renowned academics, researchers and diplomats from almost all countries around the world.

The CSIR ICC is located in the city’s scientific hub, embedded on the campus of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, close to the Technology Innovation Agency, the National Research Foundation, the Department of Science and Innovation, the Innovation Hub, the University of Pretoria and its Future Africa Campus, SA National Biodiversity Institute and other research, development and innovation bodies and agencies. The CSIR ICC’s conference, function and exhibition venues can accommodate groups of up to 1000 in its variety of venues. AUDITORIUMS

The CSIR ICC’s two purpose-built auditoriums have interpreting, voting, and queuing technology for 100 to 500 delegates. The auditoriums have raked theatre-style seating with solid full-length desks. There are also three fitted screens, a speaker’s restroom off the podiums, elegantly appointed top tables integrated soundproof interpreter booths and press booth infrastructure supporting live streaming capabilities.

BREAKAWAY VENUES

Breakaway venues can accommodate groups of between 10 and 450 delegates and function venues can accommodate up to 500 guest banquets and larger groups can be accommodated for cocktail-type events.

A 1000sqm exhibition hall with storage space, floor loading capacity for heavy vehicles, and floor dips with electricity and data points is a feature of the CSIR ICC as is a central registration desk and exhibition space in the main foyer area.

This Centre boasts a spectacular alfresco dining deck set into the convention centre’s natural setting- perfect for outdoor, nature and birdwatching enthusiasts seeking a quick reprieve from the business talk. The deck is an ideal venue for an outdoor cocktail function for up to 500 guests.

The exhibition space flows from the main foyer area and is therefore ideally located for high visibility.

OUTDOOR FACILITIES

The CSIR ICC is well known for curating conference spaces outdoors, enveloped by natural bush and manicured gardens, in its expansive grounds. From large plenary sessions to medium sized workshops and think-tanks and lunches and social functions, the venue can provide a variety of setups outdoors to ensure a fresh and invigorating environment for delegates in-between indoor sessions.

The CSIR ICC is as accessible as it gets! Located at the junction of the major Gauteng province highways and on the Gautrain route which links OR Tambo airport directly with the CSIR ICC. Easy to access from any direction, by all modes of transport, the Centre’s location outside of the Pretoria city centre ensures that no matter from which direction you approach the CSIR ICC you are always travelling against heavy traffic.

The Gautrain H2 Lynnwood bus, departing from the Gautrain Hatfield Station, offers commuters to the CSIR ICC hassle-free travel around Gauteng stations.
